About this vehicle

The 924 Turbo arrived for model year 1979 with a clear mission: close the gap between the base 924 and the 911 SC. Specific factory hardware came standard. A functional NACA duct on the right-hand side of the hood pulls hot air from the engine compartment through low pressure while the car moves, and four air intakes between the headlights — paired with vertical slots in the lower front apron — route dedicated cooling air to the brakes and oil cooler. The Series 2 revision came in 1981, bringing a revised turbocharger with a larger compressor and higher boost, plus a Siemens-Hartig Digital Ignition Timing Control system triggered off the flywheel. North American cars that year were factory rated at 154 hp, up from 143 hp in 1980; European markets got a different 177 PS tune. This garage-kept example, finished in Diamond Silver Metallic over black, has stayed within the same family since new and is now offered by its third owner out of Maine.

Pop-up retractable halogen headlamps and a black rear spoiler are standard 924 Turbo fare. Factory options on this particular car added 15" forged alloy wheels, sport shock absorbers and stabilizers, an automatic antenna, and an alarm system — the wheels currently wrapped in Hankook Ventus tires fitted in 2021. There's also an integrated front spoiler, tinted glass, and a left remote-control mirror. Paint is described by the seller as all-original and excellent overall, with a few minor nicks and dings and some curb damage to the front spoiler; no rust, anywhere. A clean CARFAX accompanies the listing.

Inside, the black cabin is anchored by a leather-wrapped Sport steering wheel. The gauge cluster covers a tachometer, quartz clock, trip odometer, and oil pressure gauge, with a cassette holder and automatic antenna among the option-list additions. Characteristic cracks mark the dash, and both the air conditioning and radio are currently inoperative; the seller calls the rest of the interior excellent. Worth knowing: the odometer stopped in 2021 when the seller attempted to reset the trip meter, so the displayed reading of 27,105 miles reflects where the count stood at that point.

Under the rear hatch sits the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, factory rated at 154 hp, sending power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual. That gearbox uses a conventional H-pattern layout — the 1981 North American spec having moved away from the earlier European dog-leg arrangement. Four-wheel vented disc brakes with a dual-diagonal circuit, rack-and-pinion steering, and an oil cooler round out the standard performance hardware. Since 2020 the car has gone through extensive recommissioning: Koni Sport shocks, a Bosch alternator, new injectors, a fuel sender, front tie rod assemblies and steering rack boots, a timing belt, a transmission mount, spark plugs, vacuum hoses, a fuel accumulator and check valve, filters, fluids, and a brake fluid flush. Fuel-system work went to a Bosch-certified technician; independent Porsche technicians handled everything else. Roughly 500 miles have accumulated since the work began.

Sale includes a Maine registration, the owner's manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, sales literature, promotional booklets, and an extra muffler.
