1984 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Coupe, Swiss-Market Rest-of-World in Ruby Red Metallic
About this vehicle
The 1984 model year mattered. That's when Porsche revived the Carrera name — dormant since 1977 — and brought Bosch Motronic (DME) fuel injection and ignition management into the 911 lineup for the first time, making this inaugural Carrera 3.2 something of a turning point in the car's long history. This particular example was originally delivered to the Swiss market as a rest-of-world (RoW) car, finished in Ruby Red Metallic over grey Porsche-script cloth, and it comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity along with documentation stretching back to 2003. A prior owner commissioned a full repaint in the factory color and put more than $8,000 into mechanical work completed in late 2024. The odometer reads 137,000 kilometers.

Ruby Red Metallic, factory-specified, is what you see on the body — and it wears European-market bumperettes, H4 headlights, integrated fog lights, a front spoiler, and a power-operated sunroof. Heated, power-adjustable mirrors sit on both sides. The 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels with black centers are a recognized factory option for the Carrera 3.2, currently shod with Continental ExtremeContact tires. Both the factory whale-tail spoiler and the rear wiper have been removed from the car; both come with the sale. Worth flagging: there's a scuff on the passenger-side front valance, chipping trim at the driver's window, and moisture has gotten into the left taillight assembly.

Grey Porsche-script cloth covers the front seats. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a full suite of VDO instruments — central tachometer, 260-km/h speedometer, quartz clock, and gauges for oil level, oil pressure, oil temperature, and fuel. Power windows and a power-adjustable driver's seat are fitted. There's an aftermarket stereo. Known faults inside: the passenger seat-back release doesn't operate, the passenger seat fold lever is missing, and the cigarette lighter is non-functional.

Lift the rear lid and you find the Euro-spec 3.2-liter flat-six — rated at 228 HP and 209 lb-ft of torque — paired with a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle. That gearbox is correct for 1984–1986 Carrera 3.2 production; Porsche didn't switch to the G50 unit until 1987. Four-wheel discs handle braking. The November 2024 service, which ran past $8,000, touched the exhaust system, oil return tubes, front struts and mounts, battery, front brake caliper, and front brake hoses. A September 2026 inspection flagged marginal front brake pads and leaking rear outer CV boots; compression test results from that visit are in the gallery.

The sale includes a clean title, owner's and service manuals, service records, a handwritten maintenance logbook, parts invoices, the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the original whale-tail spoiler and rear wiper, a spare tire, an air pump, sales literature, and all keys.
