1986 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL Roadster in Signal Red — Canadian R107
About this vehicle
Signal Red over Beige leather. On this car, that combination feels less like a choice and more like an inevitability. Delivered new in Ontario in 1986, it reportedly stayed there until a recent move to Quebec, clearing an out-of-province mechanical inspection in May 2026 somewhere along the way.

R107 production kicked off in April 1971 and kept going through 1989, giving the platform one of the longest unbroken runs in Mercedes-Benz history. At the top of the North American lineup sat the 560 SL, carrying the naturally aspirated M117 5.5-liter V8 — 227 hp, 279 lb-ft of torque — routed exclusively to the rear through a 4-speed automatic; no manual was ever offered in this market. Four-wheel independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes round out the chassis. Factory equipment on this car includes automatic climate control, a driver's airbag (standard on all North American 560 SL models from 1986 onward — no passenger airbag was ever offered on the R107), heated exterior mirrors, and an anti-theft alarm system. The original Becker Mexico Grand Prix radio has since been replaced.
Exterior paint is Signal Red (568), redone in the factory-original color. Long hood, chrome-accented bumpers, classic grille — the proportions that drew buyers to this body style in the first place are all intact. Two tops are fitted: a matching removable hardtop and a folding black soft top. Fog lights and heated power-adjustable mirrors are present, as are the factory 15×7-inch Gullideckel alloy wheels, said to remain in excellent condition. The seller flags both the soft top and the tires as needing replacement. Further condition details are visible in the accompanying photo gallery.

Inside, factory Beige leather (275) covers the seats, with matching carpeting, door panels, and interior trim throughout. Black dashboard, wood veneer accents. Four decades of use show — the interior is largely untouched and carries real patina earned over that time. The four-spoke steering wheel houses the integrated driver's airbag. Power windows, cruise control, a folding center armrest, and illuminated vanity mirrors are all present. An aftermarket Blaupunkt CD stereo now occupies the slot the original Becker radio once held. The SRS warning light is currently illuminated. The odometer stopped functioning approximately one month before listing, so the car is being sold as true mileage unknown; the last recorded figure was 221,333.

Since June 2026, approximately 1,000 kilometers have reportedly been driven. Fresh fluids were installed in preparation for sale.

Sale includes the removable hardtop, a toolkit, a spare tire, and Canadian registration.
