1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet – 25th Anniversary Edition, Silver Metallic, 53k Miles
About this vehicle
November 1988. Porsche was marking 25 years of 911 production, and this Silver Metallic Cabriolet came off the line as part of that celebration — the G-series Carrera 3.2 in its final form, one model year before the 964 arrived and changed everything. Only 200 Anniversary Edition Cabriolets were allocated to the U.S. market: 160 in Silver Metallic, 40 in Satin Black Metallic. This is one of the 160. It sold new on August 28, 1989, through Campbell Motor Cars of Buena Park, California, passed into its current family in 1991, and now reads approximately 53,203 miles.

Paint is described as largely original. Paint-meter readings are included in the gallery for anyone who wants to dig into the specifics. What sets this car apart visually — immediately — are the Anniversary-specific body-color 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels: 6×16 up front, 8×16 at the rear, swapping the bright-finish Fuchs of a standard Carrera 3.2 for something far more purposeful-looking. Factory front and rear spoilers are present. Headlamp washers, an intensified windshield washer system, fog lights, and a power-operated black cabriolet top fill out the exterior spec. The convertible top, boot, and headliner were replaced with factory parts in 2002. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4s carrying 2023 and 2024 date codes. The seller characterizes the paintwork and exterior trim as excellent overall for a car of this age and mileage.

Every one of the 200 U.S.-market Anniversary Cabriolets received the same cabin treatment — no exceptions. 'Silk Grey' leather upholstery with black accent piping, silk grey velour carpeting. This car has it all, plus the bespoke stitched leather-wrapped center console incorporating an outside-temperature gauge and a CD/cassette holder, both of which were called out in the original Porsche brochure. Cruise control, air conditioning, power windows, and a Hi-Fi sound system with amplifier were factory-fitted. An updated head unit has since been installed; the original radio is retained and transfers with the car. Seat wear is consistent with the mileage, though the seller describes the cabin overall as well-preserved.

Under the rear lid sits the 3.2-liter air-cooled flat-six, backed by the G50 five-speed manual transaxle — the Getrag-supplied unit with BorgWarner synchronizers and a hydraulically operated clutch that supplanted the older 915 gearbox from 1987 onward. Add the Anniversary-exclusive short-shift lever and the driving character diverges noticeably from a standard-spec Carrera 3.2 of the same period. Service records run back to 1991: oil service and inspection at 13,480 miles; new belts and A/C service at 37,551 miles; front and rear brake rotors and pads at 39,594 miles. Work since then has addressed the A/C system, steering shaft bearing, passenger door actuator, alternator pulley, and other items. Spark plugs and valve adjustments have been seen to; the starter and alternator were replaced at 44,766 miles; the fuel-pump relay at 45,194 miles. A 2017 major service covered shifter bushings, spark plugs, valve adjustment, distributor cap and rotor, and transmission fluid. Further servicing and sensor work followed in 2021.

The sale includes two main keys, a valet key, three wheel-lock keys, the original radio, owner's manual and stamped maintenance booklet, original window sticker, the full service record collection, factory tool kit and jack, space-saver spare, tonneau cover with vinyl storage case, front license-plate bracket, a car cover, and a clean title.
