Handcrafted 1:2 Scale Mercedes-Benz W196R Stromlinie Display Car — Hans Herrmann #22
About this item
Hand-built in Germany, this half-scale tribute to the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196R Streamlined racer runs 102 inches nose to tail — roughly what a small motorcycle occupies. It replicates chassis #22, Hans Herrmann's mount at that year's French Grand Prix, and the visible details leave little doubt about which car it's referencing.

Beneath the Silver Arrow bodywork, a tubular chassis carries a lightweight body structure shaped to trace the original "Stromlinienwagen" aerodynamic profile. Fitted under the hood is a 9 PS gasoline engine, so this thing actually runs rather than sitting inert on a stand. Period wire-spoked wheels, an open cockpit, and #22 race livery round out the presentation.

Condition throughout is described as like-new, both physically and mechanically. Two materials define the construction: fibreglass for the body panels, aluminum for the interior and cockpit. Anyone serious about a purchase should work through the photo gallery — the aluminum cockpit detailing, engine bay layout, wheel construction, and body contours are all captured there in sufficient detail.

The car is offered from Villingen-Schwenningen, BW, Germany. Tariffs, duties, customs, shipping, shipping insurance, handling, transactional fees, and any miscellaneous fees are the buyer's responsibility.
