The OM647 turbo diesel engine used by Mercedes and Dodge Sprinter 2500 and 3500 models from 2004-2006 increases fuel economy and power by using a turbocharger to compress the air entering the engine intake. This compressed air provides higher overall air volume entering the engine and increases the amount of oxygen in the combustion chamber to burn fuel more completely. The reason for failure can range from oil seal leaks that allow the bearing inside the turbocharger to wear out, and the engine to burn oil at high rate as well as waste gates failing causing excess pressure and rattling in the turbocharger.
    This Garrett 6470900280 turbocharger with actuator is a direct replacement turbocharger for Mercedes part number 1700251174 and Dodge part number 05142494AA. Garrett is a leader in developing and innovating turbocharging technology. First introduced on commercial engines in 1954 on the Caterpillar D9 Crawler, Garrett turbochargers were also used in the first turbocharged production car, the 1962 Oldsmobile Jetfire.
Left = Driver side and Right = Passenger side.
