  • The valve cover with integrated crankcase ventilation used on the 2011-2018 BMW N54 turbocharged engines found in the 135i, 1 series M, 335i/xi/is, 535i/xi, 640i, 740i/Li, 740Li, X6, and Z4 from 2007-2016 is a commonly failed part.
  • Due to its plastic composite design, it is extremely susceptible to gasket failure and cracking of the valve cover itself. This may cause oil to leak out of the valve cover to the outside of the engine, into the intake, and even into the combustion chambers.
  • Even if the valve cover is not cracked, BMW recommends replacing the whole valve cover even if just the gaskets are leaking, unlike in previous models with metal valve covers.
  • This genuine BMW valve cover is the recommended valve cover by BMW to prevent needlessly having to replace it over and over again with aftermarket replacements.
