Front
The brake calipers on your vehicle are responsible for clamping the brake pads to the brake discs, slowing your vehicle to a stop. When the brake pedal is pressed, the brake master cylinder builds hydraulic pressure in the brake system, forcing the caliper piston against the inner pad and pulling in the outer pad to clamp the pads on the brake disc. Allowing the caliper to clamp and release are the sliding guide pins connecting the caliper to the carrier. Water and road salt can cause the guide pins to rust and corrode, making the calipers drag and stick, preventing your vehicle from coming to a stop as fast as you may need.
