Is the convertible top warning light on in your Porsche? When the convertible top closes on your Porsche, does it not seem secure? If you are experiencing one or both of these problems, you may very well have a problem with one of the two convertible top catch motors.
  • The convertible top catch motors on the 1986-1997 Porsche 911 convertible are electric cam motors that turn the convertible top locks into the catch above the windshield, locking the convertible top in place.
  • If these motors do not lock down the top, there is potential for the convertible top to open while driving.
  • Due to their location in the convertible top, the convertible top catch motors get exposed to the elements allowing dirt and grime to work it's way into the gears of the motor, binding the gears and breaking the gear teeth in the motors. When this happens, the convertible catch motor can not fully turn the latch locking the top in place and the convertible top catch motor needs to be replaced.
  • This SWF-Valeo Porsche right side convertible top catch motor is an identical replacement for the right side convertible top catch motor used on your Porsche when it was new and the recommended replacement part for your Porsche.
Determining which convertible top catch motor failed can be a challenge. Tip: Tape down the plastic switches next to the catch motors, your Porsche will think the top is fully closed and the catch motors will turn, you will visually be able to see which motors are not turning correctly.
Left = Driver side and Right = Passenger side.
All parts are priced individually unless identified as a set or kit. "Per car" notes identify how many of a given part your car has and "Left/Right or Front/Rear" notes means the part fits the left or right side of the car. These parts are still sold individually and you'll need to select the appropriate quantity if you plan to replace more than one of this item.
