The air bag clocksrping on your Volvo S60 is the rotating electrical connection in the steering column that allows the horn, steering wheel controls, and air bag to function without wires getting tangled every time you turn the steering wheel. Electric conducting pins ride along electric conducting wheels, maintaining the electrical connections for the horn, steering wheel controls, and air bag circuits as the steering turns. If the conductive pins or wheels corrode, gaps between the two will create open circuit condition inside the clockspring and steering wheel controls or driver’s air bag will not work. The Volvo 31313083 air bag clockspring is the original equipment airbag clockspring for the Volvo S60, S80, V70, and XC70 models with Dynamic Stability Tracy Control from 2005-2009.
